France's public sector agency is leveraging Datawatch's self-service data prep solution in more than 100 local offices to ease data access and speed time-to-insight
BEDFORD, Mass., May 31, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Datawatch Corporation (NASDAQ-CM: DWCH) today announced that Caisse Nationale d'Allocations Familiales (CNAF), a large, public sector agency based in Paris, France, is leveraging Datawatch's self-service data preparation solutions to ease data access, and achieve fast and exhaustive reporting. The combination of Datawatch Monarch and Monarch Server is saving CNAF accountants and auditors countless hours on data extraction, modeling and reporting, enabling them to prep less and analyze more.
CNAF serves as France's Social Security Department and operates with one clear mission: to help families in need. The organization distributes family allowance funds to more than 10 million beneficiaries each year. Calculating the benefits it can allocate to each family requires CNAF to perform a detailed analysis of factors related to child welfare, housing and education.
Prior to implementing Datawatch, CNAF dealt with its massive amounts of family benefits data, which is housed within thousands of files, through manual processes. Extracting insight from this information, which was only available as lists in various text formats, was extremely labor-intensive. CNAF was looking for a solution that would automate data extraction and processing, and expedite time-to-insight by automatically converting this data into a structured format for analysis.
In 2009, at the recommendation of local Caisse Allocations Familiales (CAF) offices already using the product, CNAF turned to Datawatch Monarch, which enables data analysts and everyday business users to rapidly access, manipulate, blend and prepare data from the widest variety of sources, including structured, multi-structured and unstructured repositories. CNAF also implemented Monarch Server to automate the delivery of prepared data to its intended recipients.
Today, Datawatch's solutions are used by more than 450 accountants and auditors across CNAF's 102 local agencies. Each night, Datawatch Monarch runs more than 195 automated processes on up to 8,000 files - totaling approximately four gigabytes of data - and governs them in a secure, centralized Document Management System in Excel format. Relevant files are then automatically processed and distributed to users via Monarch Server.
"Datawatch Monarch is extremely easy-to-use, enabling any one of our users to simply and rapidly unlock data from any source and automatically convert it into structured data for analysis," said Jean-Michel Omont, Archive System Manager, CNAF. "Tasks such as extracting data from text or PDF files is now as simple as pushing a button. Reporting is fast and exhaustive, information is provided in a secure manner and data extraction is fully automated. Monarch has saved us thousands of hours of modeling and data extraction time, freeing our accountants and auditors to spend their time on performing analysis that will drive decision making and deliver business value."
Datawatch is now part of CNAF's overarching IT plan and is recognized as an integral part of its Information System. The streamlined processes and improved efficiency provided by Datawatch has helped coordinate efforts between the various CNAF offices. And, as a result of the return on investment CNAF has seen over the past five years, the organization is considering using Datawatch Monarch within its HR department to extract information related to pay and to run end-of-month checks.
"Our self-service data prep solutions are designed to provide everyday business users with the agility they need to speed decision making while keeping confidential information secure," said Michael Morrison, CEO of Datawatch. "Datawatch Monarch is more than a technology solution. We're a business partner that enables our customers to keep their focus on strategic initiatives that will drive the bottom line, rather than wasting valuable resources on mundane data prep and reporting tasks."
