Bonsoir,

J'ai un atom 2600N, sur un HP mini 4100-quelque chose 1 Go ram 320 Go
DD, intel dit 64 bits, j'arrive m=EAme pas =E0 booter une fedora, alors
quel tourne =E0 merveille sur ma tour PackardBell !
Y a t'il une solution pour faire tourner une distrib 64 bits ?

Booter sur un liveusb 64 bit pour voir





C est ce que j ai fait marche pas, ma question est y a t il une limitation comme chez MS, et qu il faut 2 Go de ram ? ou/et comment avoir les infos su r bios ou firmware ?
Marche en 32 bits sur Fedora et Netbsd ...
Les infos tel que les adresses hexa donnee par le dmesg, ne sont ils pas un debut de piste ?

Je ne pense pas qu'il y a une telle limitation, mais il faut savoir que
les distributions 64 bits sont plus gourmandes en mémoire que les 32
bits. Avec 1 Go de RAM, il n'y a aucune accélération à espérer du fait
d'une mémoire disponible moins importante. Les applis les plus lourdes
seront même pénalisées. C'est d'ailleurs ce que j'avais constaté en
comparant une ubuntu 32 bits et une ubuntu 64 bits sur un portable de 1
Go (partagé avec la vidéo).

Contrairement à W$, c'est la mémoire qui est déterminante dans la
rapidité d'exécution des programmes.

L'installation d'une version 64 bits ne se justifie que si tu envisages
une augmentation de ram au-delà de 2 Go, 2 Go étant le maximum géré en
32 bits.

Ah ? Tu es sûr ? Pour moi un système 32 bits peut adresser jusqu'à 4 Go
de mémoire : 2 ** 32 = 4 294 967 296

Avec ce genre de raisonnement simpliste, tu nous aurais prétendu qu'un 286
ne pouvait pas avoir plus de 16 ko de RAM (pour mémoire, la limite était de
1 Mo en mode réel (plus des poussières en bidouillant) et 16 Mo en mode
protégé).

Un x86_32 avec PAE peut adresser jusqu'à 64 Go. A contrario, avec la manière
dont Linux utilise son espace d'adressage, il faut commencer à bidouiller à
partir de 960 Mo.

C'est très variable, puisque seuls les pointeurs sont affectés : une
application qui utilise beaucoup de pointeurs va presque doubler
d'occupation mémoire, une application qui utilise surtout des données plates
va occuper presque exactement la même place. Presque toujours, ce qui est
vraiment gourmand en mémoire, ce sont les données plates : images, cache
disque, etc., donc le phénomène est très limité.

Avec 1 Go de RAM, il n'y a aucune accélération à espérer du fait
d'une mémoire disponible moins importante.



C'est totalement faux. À part le fait d'avoir un adressage sur 64 bits,
x86_64 est, par rapport à x86_32, une nouvelle architecture, avec en
particulier nettement plus de registres généraux et une ABI mise à jour. Ces
deux points offrent un gain de vitesse considérable pour les applications
gourmandes en CPU.

Je commence à trouver ça lourd de devoir corriger cette erreur à chaque fois
qu'elle sort.

C'est d'ailleurs ce que j'avais constaté en
comparant une ubuntu 32 bits et une ubuntu 64 bits sur un portable de 1
Go



Cette méthodologie est beaucoup trop approximative et non rigoureuse pour
signifier quoi que ce soit.

4 Go !

(expérience faite) : un Linux 64 bits (Ubuntu en l'occurrence) avec 2Go
se débrouille très bien et ne prend pas beaucoup plus de mémoire que le
même en 32 bits.
Au contraire, plus rapide dès qu'il y a un peu de calcul (décoder/encoder
des vidéos par exemple).

Seule contrainte : Parfois des pilotes propriétaires n'existent qu'en 32
bits pour des matériels un peu vieux : J'ai eu ce cas avec mon scanner
Epson Perfection 1250 (problème résolu fortuitement en le faisant passer
pour un Plustek)[*].

Linux (ou Windows ou tout autre système normal) 32 bits : 4Go sauf si
noyau (et processeur/chipset afférent) gérant le PAE.

Il peut y avoir des systèmes ne supportant pas plus de 2Go (voire
moins...) à cause de limitations dues au chipset, à la carte mère (pas
assez d'emplacements RAM...)...
