Product Premiere Platform Windows Last Edited 03/28/2002 Filename 29b56.htm DV Previews Play Stuttered in Premiere Monitor Window When Exporting to Camera
Issue When you preview DV video or export it to a DV device (for example, a camera) in Adobe Premiere 6.0, the video plays stuttered in the Program view of the Monitor window in Premiere.
Details The video plays on the DV device simultaneously without stuttering.
Solutions Do one or more of the following:
Solution 1 If you use Windows Me, 2000, 98, or NT, enable the FastPreview setting in Premiere by editing the Prem60.ini file:
Note: This solution doesn't work in Windows XP because of the way that Direct Show buffers frames.
1. Exit from Premiere. 2. Locate the Prem60.ini file in the Program Files/Adobe/Premiere folder, and open it in a text-editor, such as Notepad. 3. Add the following lines to the end of the Prem60.ini file:
[DXMedia] FastPreviewWhileTransmitting=1
4. Close the file and save the changes.
Solution 2 Turn off playback to the DV device before you preview DV: 1. In Premiere, choose Project > Project Settings > General. 2. Click Playback Settings. 3. In the DV Playback Options dialog box, deselect "Playback on DV camcorder/VCR," and then click OK.
Additional Information By default, the FastPreview setting is disabled so that Premiere allocates fewer resources to simultaneous playback in the Monitor window, ensuring that exported video plays smoothly on slower systems. As a result, playback in the Monitor window can be jerky or stuttered because a greater percentage of resources is allocated to exporting DV. If you enable the setting, more resources are allocated to playback in the Monitor window. Similarly, if you turn off playback to the DV device, more resources are available to playback in the Monitor window.
