BRITAIN--The BBC's decision to broadcast free to air on Sky Digital has
reportedly put the corporation in hot water with Hollywood's film and TV
studios. According to "The Guardian", Warner Bros, Universal and 20th
Century Fox are negotiating with the BBC due to its channels now being
available unencrypted outside the UK. The companies say the BBC does not
hold the rights to screen films such as Harry Potter across the whole of
Europe. The third series of hit drama series 24 is also said to be under
threat. A spokesman at a rival broadcaster told "The Guardian": "The BBC
are up against the wall on this one. I really don't see any way out of
it for them, other than going back to some sort of conditional-access
deal. It's not just films; it's right across the board: sport, drama,
