I'm running XP with no Service pack. When I click on "My computer" with the
intention to have access to the storage tree, it takes more than 2 minutes
before the contents is displayed . It 's the same whenever I have to open or
to save a file within any application software, the SAve or Open dialog
opens at once but it is frozen for a while before I can click on any button
in the dialog.

I got this problem when I used a USB1 device on a USB2 plug.
Generally this happens when windows is looking for a driver or a plug in
that doesnt exist.
Did u install anything recently?
Try to restore a precedent config. Choose a date before the problem.

Wait! Before you try and roll back any configurations clean yourself up

from spyware:

www.downloads.com - AdAware SE 1.05 Personal - download, install, update
and run a full system scan - remove everything it finds.

www.downloads.com - SpyBot SD 1.3 - download, install, update and run a
scan - fix everything

www.webroot.com - SpySweeper - download, install, update and run -
remove everything

www.google.com - SpyWareBlaster - download, install and update this -
there is no scanning required for this one.

Once that is done, make sure you run some Antivirus scans - update your
local AV program and run some online tests to make sure you're clean.

If these don't work then let me know, you shouldn't have to roll back
your config YET.
