Pixmania sucks, lies and doesn´t give your money back

5 weeks after I returned my Panasonic, because of false advertising (the
camera didn´t perform as they said), Pixmania still doesn´t pay me back. Oh,
it´s in the system and they KNOW I returned it to the store, but they
"can´t" pay me back until it has arrived in Paris!

I live in Portugal and if I order (well, never again, of course) it is in
stock (which is another lie, because they only have a wharehouse in Paris)
and I have it in 2 days. So why the hell does it take more then 5 weeks to
go the other way?
They use an old woman with a donkey for transport? Are they waiting for me
to die of old age?

On top of that I always have to dial a charge phone number, end up in Paris
where almost nobody speaks English, so luckily I also speak German and the
woman told me, that even after they finally have it in Paris, IT WILL STILL
TAKE ANOTHER 3 WEEKS BEFORE I HAVE THE MONEY IN MY ACCOUNT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Does the word INCOMPETENCE come to mind?

False advertising seems to come easy to them also. the price they advertise
is always increased by some vague charge. SO? Advertise with the REAL price,
like other stores do. The manuals are ONLY in French, so you have to
download and print your own language.

And if you think they´re cheap: a Nikon D80 kit costs the same at
Mediamarkt, but WITH a original Nikon carrying case, a 2 Gb SD card and a
small Nikon tripod. With the printed manual in your language as well...

Maybe I´ll start a new website: WWW.PIXMANIA-SUCKS.COM

I had the same experience - Samsung 19 inch monitor with '160 degree'
viewing angle - sure, if you like posterized solarized colour-shifted
tones from 5 degrees off axis onwards!

It took them THREE MONTHS to credit me for the return.

I sent them back a hard drive and they said they never received it until I
proved they had and they refunded in full.

I'll not buy from them again as they are Fotovista part of DSG otherwise
know for the infamous Dixons!

Complaining here (or in the groups where this is Xposted to) is not
very effective I reckon... better to write a negative review of the
online shop on consumer rating/review websites like http://www.tweakers.net /pricewatch

I am in France... maybe this info is useful:

2 years ago I purchased a lot of equipment from www.pixelpartner.fr

Fast delivery, everything in good condition. I never had to return
anything.

But suddenly they vanished, the website just went offline.

I think people running sites like that just operate under a certain
name for a year or so, then when people start to sending things back
for warranty purposes, they start all over again under another name.

pixelpartner, pixmania... get it?

BUT this is the risk you take when you shop around and buy at the
lowest price possible. I rather buy from a real shop around the corner
and pay a bit more, so that I get proper aftersales if needed.

I think I would like to know the nature of the 'false advertising'. If

it referred to the camera specifications, that should have been flushed
out before placing an order anywhere. Returning an on-line purchase
isn't something one wants to do even with a reputable supplier and
should be reserved for defective items.
An item such as a camera should only be purchased from a well known
supplier. As the last poster noted, buying from a local shop is the
safest, but I've been quite happy with suppliers such as Amazon.

Having read many criticisms of Pixmania on this NG, I have placed them in my
Block Sender file, I wouldn't deal with them if they were offering FREE
cameras etc.

On top of everything, today I learned that the stock in the store in Lisbon
is not surely up to date and they have no phone. Good, I´d love to drive
over 100 km´s for nothing.
Also: they normal refund or 15 days return or trade is actually just 7 days
and then you can not exchange it; they have to send it to Paris first also.
So just to exchange a product will take 2 - 3 months.
They act like it´s a millions business, but the store in Lisbon (only one in
Portugal) has only 3 employers and is as small as a local village drugstore.
The center in Paris, where all phone calls go, is likely a callcenter, not
from Pixmania at all. The woman I talked to tolde me it was just a second
job for her.

I hope they go bankrupt. Eh, after they give me my money back.
