Change usemap on the fly

I change an image using a map by rolling over a button. The point is I have
to change the map as well.
I tried this way:
document.images['home_dx'].usemap = "#" + NewMap;
but it seems not to wrok.
Do somebody know how to do it?

default langage is french for french language configured browser, and
english for other languages found.
we call that "usability"
