Hello Tom,
With SharePoint if you manage to do a chat,
First you can use a "public chat" inside your windows with a Web Part.
Second, I think it's possible to do in dev. with the SDK :
Two SDKs available for download:
Windows SharePoint Services 2003 SDK: Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 2003 programming information (3.77MB) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID 64af62-c2e9-4ca3-a2a0-7d4319980011&DisplayLang=en SharePoint Products and Technologies 2003 Software Development Kit (SDK) (4.96MB) http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyIDª3e7fe5-daee-4d10-980f-789b827967b0&DisplayLang=en
