Clean up to maximize performance + Norton Windoc fails to run :(

Hi all,

I've got an AMD K6-2-550 with 256mb 100mhz SDram running on a Shuttle Spacewalker 100mhz
board loaded with the latest, and last bios running Win98se (an actual original version).

I last installed Win98se over a year ago, when I had a major system crash and nothing
could be recovered. Its been running quite well, except when I installed ATI TV-Wonder
software, my Norton WinDoc would no longer load from the CD rom, nor could I install it
when copied to the HD or from the CD.

I get the following message when Norton Utilities 2001 Windoc tries to run:

If I run Windoc 2001, it usually cleans up my system quite nicely, everything runs quite
stable, and quicker. I am noticing somethings hanging when they shouldn't, etc....

With 256mb ram, my system should be running a little better than it is! It is running
just as well when I had 64mb of ram, probably a little worse!

I think once I get Windoc running again, it may solve my problems. Any suggestions on how
I can get it to run? It can't load in safe mode since the CD rom doesn't work in Safe
mode (or can it?).

Any info would be greatly appreciated. If I install Win98se again (not a format and
install, just an install ontop), will that work? (I'd prefer that as a last resort, I hate
installing windows period ;).
