SYMPTOMS When you use Winipcfg.exe or Ipconfig.exe to display a Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) adapter's Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) lease, DHCP lease date information is not displayed correctly. The lease date is displayed with a default value of 01/01/80.
CAUSE DHCP lease dates are based on the date 01/01/80. Because there is no DHCP lease, the lease date values are 0 and are displayed as described.
MORE INFORMATION The PPP adapter does not actually lease an IP address from a DHCP server. As a result, the lease information does not apply to the PPP adapter's Internet Protocol (IP) address. This is not a year 2000 (Y2K) issue; it is only a display issue that has existed since the release of Windows 95.
