Hi there!

I am sorry for my english but I have search all over to enter in the
english forums but since windows is in French it always redericts me to the
french site :-(
I have put an Maxtor Hard disk in an external USB box to use it at external
hard disk. The problem is that everytime I connect it I hace to go to Gestion
de l'ordinateur -> stockage and connect the HD. I've talked to the people
that makes the box and tell me that it is not normal it should work directly.
They think that the problem is that I have formated the HD in NTFS and they
say it should be in FAT32. The other thing is that I have formated like
dinamic HD and not Base HD. Could this be a problem? Also when i try to
format the HD the FAT32 option doesn' appear only the NTFS option! This is
because is a dinamic disk? Or Windows don't have the FAT32 option any more?
I'd like to thank you very much in advance!!!
Merci,

Martin.

Hi!

I don't know why but microsoft decides that if you install your OS windows
in french you default language is french for everything! Going from Office to
the microsoft site in french. Everytime I enter to the english site I am
redirect here! The problem is that I can understand read and speak french
with no problem but I can not write it properly. Anyway usaully people help
me anyway because most of them can also speak english. Not many here although.

Hello,
I use a Maxtor in an external box too, formatted NTFS, it happens I have
to interrupt the power of it (i.e. of the box) after connecting it to
the USB, and it then runs OK.

With a newsreader (e.g. Outlook, Agent, Thunderbird) you can select
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general, English is spoken there. Please pay
attention to the difference between "answer" and "write a new post".

+++++++++++++++++++++

microsoft.public.windowsxp.general

Perhaps a problem with some disks of this model ? I recently bought a
second one, and this one runs quite well. If powered, it is recognized
as soon as it is connected to the USB port. Did I connect the first one
properly in the box ?
