DMG files?

Hello,

I am trying to down load acrobat reader 6 for my mac 12 inch laptop g4
(osx 10.2.8). Every site down loads a DMG file. For some reason when I
tire to open it I get an error message that states "incompatable
system" What am I doing wrong. Adobie would not put it up for down
load if it was not compatable would they. I am prety sure that I have
oppened DMG files befor.

So how do I get acro reader 6 with out the hastel of a dmg file?
