encore mon ami google :
top doesn't know the answer, so it lies.
Linux doesn't have a way to directly query the amount of swap space used by a process. top calculates it as SIZE - RSS, which assumes that every page in the process's address space is either allocated by that process (RSS) or swapped out.
If the process has mapped in another process's shared memory (and maybe even mmap'd files; I'm not sure about that), these pages will show up in SIZE but not in RSS. They're not swapped out; they're just allocated by a different process.
Conclusion: RSS is accurate and exclusive. SIZE is also accurate, but it's specifically the _address space_ of the process, and can overlap between processes. SWAP is meaningless.

Google c'est trop fort !! Mais bon, j'aurai jamais été chercher un foru ms en allemand de toute façon, j'ai fait espagnol en deuxième langue (comment ça mauvais choix ?!) !! ;-)
me donne :
- user: normal processes executing in user mode - nice: niced processes executing in user mode - system: processes executing in kernel mode - idle: twiddling thumbs - iowait: waiting for I/O to complete - irq: servicing interrupts - softirq: servicing softirqs
Ok, merci beaucoup. Ça me turlupinait depuis un moment...
