We are currently using Sharepoint Portal 2001. Indexing and search
crawling are set up on the same machine. We want to extend the scope
of the search engine to include all our document servers rather than
just one, so we figure it makes sense to have a separate server solely
for indexing so performance is not degraded.
I set up an index server and configured the workspace to be for index
only. I have set up the content sources within that server and
propagated to the destination server (existing server). The event
logs in both servers confirmed that propagation was successful.
However, when I try to search for a document I only receive the search
results from the destination server (where the index originally was)
and nothing from the index server.
Is there a step that I might be missing?
I have searched all over the internet and newsgroups to no avail.
Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.
