Is 'Mom' British English

Hi

A person recently wrote a message suspecting that their spell checker was
slipping back into US English. Their reasoning was that 'mom' wasn't picked
up by the English (UK) spell checker, so the English (US) spell checker must
be running.

Interested by this article, I opened a New word doc and selected English
(UK) and kept a close check on it.

Not only does it not object to 'mom' but it didn't bat an eyelid when I
typed 'sidewalk', 'subway' or 'trash'.

Incidentally 'mom' is used in the North of England and so could conceivably
figure in an English data base

So I would now like to know if dictionnaries can be viewed in list fom and
even edited?

What with all the problems people seem to be having with Microsoft
dictionnaries, I think I can safely say in my 'Cockney' accent that this
part of the program sucks and no one at Microsoft would recognize the
anomoly (except Cindy of course who is very aware of it and helps us all the
time)

Answer and comments invited

Yours faithfully (faithfully yours)

Bonjour,

Ce n'est pas grave, parce que nous, on dit simplement 'Maman'
Avec un M majuscule quant on l'aime beaucoup.
