DOWNTOWN – A man accused of severely beating a woman in July is accused of threatening to harm her if she testified against him – right in front of the Hamilton County Courthouse before his trial.
Alex Cooper, 30, of Silverton, is held in lieu of a $50,000 cash bond at the county jail. He faces one felony count of intimidation of a witness or victim.
According to court documents, Cooper approached the woman in front of the courthouse and made the threat just before his 9 a.m. bench trial Tuesday in Hamilton County Municipal Court.
He was set to go on trial on accusations from Silverton police that he beat the woman so badly in Silverton on July 29, she suffered a broken nose, bloody lip and bruise knees and legs.
That hearing, scheduled before Judge Brad Greenberg, has now been delayed until at least Oct. 14, court records show.
