WEST JORDAN -- The way Barton Bagnes tells it, his decision to wear a diaper
and expose that
diaper to children, is part of a one man quest to prevent shame and abuse.

"I did it because kids that have this problem ... are told to keep secrets,
tell lies," he said,
crying. "And it makes them that much more likely to keep secrets about
abuse."

But 3rd District Judge Terry Christiansen refused to accept that
explanation.

"It is wrong and I don't buy your explanation and jury didn't buy it either.
You are not on a
one-man crusade for people with incontinence issues... that crusade is not
working."

Christiansen sentenced Bagnes, 33, Monday to 1 to 15 years in prison for
sexual exploitation, a
second-degree felony, and two terms of zero to five years for two counts of
lewdness involving a
child, a third-degree felony. The sentences will run concurrently.
Prosecutors say Bagnes' lewd
behavior has gone on for 10 years.

"There have been 14 separate incidences since 1999," prosecutor Robert Neill
said after the
hearing. "He's really not learning the lesson."

Bagnes said in court that he had reached out for help, but felt that wearing
a diaper in public
was the only way to address the issue of bedwetting. He said he attempted to
send letters to
various media outlets hoping to shed light on the issue, but nothing came of
those efforts.

"It's clearly not working, what I was doing," he said. "I couldn't think of
any other way it
would work. If I wrote a letter it wouldn't be published in any newspaper...
I couldn't think of
any other way it would work."

Neill said Bagnes' inability to accept responsibility for his behavior, and
his refusal to
acknowledge that it was wrong was a serious issue that warranted prison
time.

"What is so concerning to the community and of course the state is that he
doesn't see that this
is an issue when we're here because Mr. Bagnes goes up to children and
scares them to death...
these kids are terrified."

Bryant Johnson is accused of shooting his girlfriend and then refusing to
allow her medical attention. (HCSO, WKRC-TV) The Hamilton County Sheriff's
office and Colerain Township Police Department are asking for help finding
a man who shot a woman in the leg and then refused to let her get medical
help.

38 year old Bryant Johnson faces charges of felonious assault, kidnapping,
domestic violence, and weapons violations.

Officers say Johnson shot Freda Benton in the Northgate Meadows Apartment
Complex in Colerain Township around 1:30 Tuesday morning. The victim’s 20
year old daughter called police around 7:30 a.m. when she awoke to find
her mother missing and blood in the apartment.

At the same time, Cincinnati Police Department were with Benton at Mercy
Franciscan – Mt. Airy, where she was being treated for a gunshot wound to
the foot. Ms. Benton informed to the police she was shot in the city of
Cincinnati by an unknown person during an attempted robbery. Ms. Benton
was in the company of Bryant Johnson and he was present at the time of the
report.

After being released from the hospital Ms. Benton returned home and told
officers still on the scene that Johnson, who had since left, had shot her
in the foot around 1:30 a.m. after he had come to her residence
intoxicated and they had argued. Johnson refused to allow Ms. Benton to
call for police or obtain any medical attention. He held her against will
until later in the morning and then drove her around the area in a vehicle
until finally taking her to the hospital at about 6:00 a.m. Benton said
she was afraid to provide city police with the true story because Johnson
was present at the hospital and she feared him.

Johnson stands about five feet seven inches tall, weighs approximately 170
lbs., has black hair, brown eyes, is missing upper teeth, and has tattoos
on both upper arm areas. He also has a gunshot wound in his left upper
arm which is obscured by a rose tattoo. He is known to frequent the
Colerain and College Hill area.

If you know where he is call Sheriff’s Office at (513) 825-1500 or
Crimestoppers at (513) 352-3040.
