Chauncey Yarbrough murdered two men in the parking lot of a Kellogg Avenue nightclub in 2009, a judge ruled Tuesday.
Hamilton County Common Pleas Court Judge Nadine Allen, who heard Yarbrough’s murder trial without a jury at Yarbrough’s request, found him guilty Tuesday of murder and weapons charges. Yarbrough, 30, of Avondale, shot and killed Marcus “Murder” Mitchell, 21, and Duante Phillips, 23, in the early morning of July 27, 2009 at Annie’s Night Club, 4343 Kellogg Ave. Dante “Show Time” Griffin, testified at the trial that he was Yarbrough’s best friend and had his jaw broken by a punch in June of 2009. One of the men Yarbrough murdered was the prime suspect in that incident and prosecutors suspected the shooting at Annie’s was payback. The murders took place at the club’s weekly hip-hop night. Yarbrough was a bouncer at several area clubs since he was 19, Griffin said.
He will be sentenced April 6. He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.
