Campaign."
Please consider helping find some computers users in the city of Caen,
Normandie or Suresnes, near Paris, which has partnered with the Lafayette,
Louisiana USA, City-Parish Government and several French veterans
organizations to sponsor this trip. Normandie is situated in the heart of
Caen, town of William the Conqueror.
Helping to organize this trip is Jason P. Theriot author of "To Honor Our
Veterans: An Oral History of World War II Veterans from the Bayou Country,
Vol. II: The Mediterranean Campaign" and a native of France - Philippe
Gustin, who is the director of Le Centre International in Lafayette,
Louisiana.

The following story is in the Lafayette, Louisiana newspaper:
"Back to the beach: La. WWII vets returning to France to mark D-Day
anniversary: By ANGELA SIMONEAUX, Acadiana bureau
LAFAYETTE -- Irma Darphin was a 20-year-old fresh out of nursing school when
she joined the Army in 1943. She landed on Utah Beach in Normandy, France,
on July 31, 1944, slept that night in a bombed-out church, then helped set
up a hospital in Rennes, where she and the other members of the 127th
General Hospital unit worked 12 to 18 hours a day, tending to the casualties
from Brest, Laurent and St. Nazaire."
Also making the trip are Ada Garrison, who served with Darphin in the Nurse
Corps; F.V. "Pappy" Landry, who served in the Navy in the Pacific Theater;
and Dr. S.J. LaBorde, who was a member of the 76th Medical Detachment.
If you help locate these four former Military members and their family,
maybe they will consider bringing a digital camera to Europe and send
digital photos and stories about their D-Day trip to Europe. They will
visit Caen, Normandie, Suresnes and also the Utah Beach.
And if they meet an outgoing guy who contacts and helps friends and
strangers, they will find someone in France with a digital camera that can
send / upload photos everyday or so to the free web site so we can read
stories, view photos and keep up with their interesting trip. What do you
think?
Please advise on how you believe this new site which does not have much
information yet - an interesting site for family and friends of Louisiana
military members.

I would enjoy chatting with someone from France whose family was in the
military in 1941 or 1945. We can chat with email, netmeeting, messenger or

J'aurais plaisir à causer avec quelqu'un de France dont la famille était
dans les militaires en 1941 ou 1945. Nous pouvons causer avec l'email,
