Right after startup sequence, whenever I launch windows
explorer (not the internet explorer) I get a message
announcing it has to shut down, which it does a few
seconds later...
I reboot, I downlodaed all the updates for WIN XP.

It's a French newsgroup here ;-) Try with an Anti-virus programm, and if it doesn't work, then you'll have to format your HDD...

Try with an Anti-virus programm, and if it doesn't work, then you'll have to
format your HDD...

Formater ? Pour quoi faire ?
XP se répare et se restaure. Il y a bien d'autres choses à faire avant de formater.

C'est un forum francophone. C'est pour ça qu'il y a "fr" dans le nom :-))
Il est probable que vous avez ramassé une sale bête avant de mettre à jour.
Que dit votre antivirus à jour ? Ou, à défaut, un antivirus en ligne comme www.secuser.com/antivirus
