quels? Avez vous une idee?
I don't know what I have been doing with my machine but I have been able to
browse the internet as well as read/send emails or FTP files across the
network ever since I installed Wanadoo (French broadband system) on my PC
Vaio running WinXP Pro.
Until two days ago when I tried to run (but failed) to install SQL Server
2000. I have since then uninstalled SQL Server.
I can now read and send emails, and using FTP (I actually use Dreamweaver MX
to move files across to a FTP server) but I can no longer browse the
internet.
IE displays a 'page cannot be displayed' page, and Fireworks just doesn't
seem to go into action at all and stay put with a blank page (it crashes as
well now). It use to connect to a home page before this problem. The other
browsers can't browse neither.
And more seriously, I cannot connect to my localhost neither since then.
My Mac which is attached to the same Wanadoo broadband modem via an ethernet
cable works as always, perfectly. I write this message from it.
Would anyone have an idea what the problem is. Do you require more info?

<< WinSock XP Fix offers a last resort if your Internet connectivity has been corrupted due to invalid or removed registry entries. It can often cure the problem of lost connections after the removal of Adware components or improper uninstall of firewall applications or other tools that modify the XP network and Winsock settings. If you encounter connection problems after removing network related software, Adware or after registry clean-up; and all other ways fail, then give WinSock XP Fix a try. It can create a registry backup of your current settings, so it is fairly safe to use. We actually tested it on a test machine that was having a Winsock problem due to some Adware removal, and after running the utility and rebooting, the connectivity was restored. >>
Et voici la solution:
Run a good up-to-date virus scanner (one I used is called Avast - http://www.avast.com/eng/down_home.html) to make sure you delete all viruses and troyan horses.
Then run the following application: WinSock XP FiX You can download it from: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html Your connection with the web should work again after reboot.
