Problems with back-lighting: are they normal or is my camera not working properly?

I have a Minolta Dimage 7i. I am generally happy with it except when I take
pictures in particular conditions of back-lighting or very bright sky in the
direction of the sun (even though the camera is in the shadow). In this
cases the pictures appear to be washed out around the parts where the bright
light comes from (see examples of pictures with this defect in
http://www.cancellieri.org/temp/samples_of_pics_with_defects.htm). I would
like to have the opinions of experts to know whether these results are
normal given the circumstances or my camera is not working properly.
Also, as English is not my mother tongue, I would like to know the exact
name of this defect (e.g. glare? saturation? fade out? wash out?) and the
possible cause of it.

J'ai eu un Dimage 7 et ce phénomène m'a souvent gâché la vie. L'objectif est très sensible a la lumière qui le touche de face même avec le pare-soleil il est très difficile de faire des contre-jours sans avoir cet effet de voile blanc sur l'image. je crois que ton appareil est tout ce qu'il y a de plus normal mais que c'est un défaut du zoom Minolta. Un petit coup de niveau auto avec Photoshop peu sauver QQ images.
