suite des aventures :

precision : j'ai un DD avec 5 partitions dessus :
hda1 : laissé vierge au cas ou il me faudrait installer un win...
hda5 : swap
hda6 : ext3 : partition sur laquelle je n'arrive pas à installer
sarge (cf plus loin)
hda7 : ext3 : partition Mandrake 10.0 qui marche bien, mais non
satifaisante sur le plan pro.
hda8 : ext3 : partition de stockage divers (tampon pour gravure de
DVD entre autre)
hda9 : ext3 : partition sarge qui marche bien

lors de l'installation, pour le choix de la partition, si je prends hda6
j'ai toujours une petite tête de mort avant le formatage.
je viens d'essayer d'installer sarge sur hda1, et cela marche.
Est-ce que mes problèmes sont liés à un problème de disque ou de
partition ? (j'avais installé une redhat pour tester avant, sans problème)
Comment tester ma partition, sans risquer de détruire les autres ?

Ca fait un peu penser à un problème hardware. Il faudrait en effet
vérifier l'état du disque au niveaux des inodes
de la partition hda6. Il se peux qu'il y aie une erreur sur une faible
longueur, ce qui fait qu'il n'y a pas d'erreur avec
rh, les fichiers n'étant pas forcément placés dans le même ordre sur le
disque.
Essaies la commande badblocks, qui vérifiera l'état du disque :
~# badblocks -v -s /dev/hda6

j'ai toujours les mêmes problèmes d'intallation de la sarge sur mon ordinateur.

pour rappel :
après avoir installé le cd I de la sarge sur une partition, impossible de lancere le systeme nouvellement installé
pour finalisé l'installation. le lancement se bloque. L'instalation secondaire d'une mandrake, suze et redhat se passe sans
problème sur la même partition !

le nom de ma machine est patate !

apparement ce n'est pas un problème de dd : badbloks me dit que tout va bien.

j'ai essayé d'installer avec différents systemes de fichiers (ext3, ext2, reiserf ...),j'ai souvent eu des echecs d'installation de
grub sur la partion /dev/hda6 (lilo est installé sur le masterboot).

comment faire pour trouver ce qui cloche ?

Ce qui veut probablement dire que vous utilisez devfs.

J'ai déjà rencontré ce problème avec devfs lorsque le démon devfs d ne
tournait pas.

Est-ce que vous pouvez éviter d'utiliser devfs ?
append devfs=nomount dans votre lilo.conf par exemple.

Mais bon, c'est juste un truc comme ça, juste pour préserver votre cuir
chevelu.

deux points :
j'ai très honte de ma bétise, tout vient d'une grossière erreur de
ma part,
grace à JL Coulon, je me suis penché sur lilo et grub et j'ai trouvé
l'erreur :

j'installais mon nouveau systeme sur une partition /dev/hda6 avec grub
dans le premier secteur de la partition,
et j'avais un lilo sur le mbr, qui était installé de longue date.

Hors la partion /dev/hda6 est une partion de test, et j'avais tresté la
Mdk 10.1, avec lilo comme lanceur. Au cours de mes nombreux tests :-(((
j'ai du modifier le lilo du mbr sans le voir, car apparement il lançait
directement le noyaux situé sur /dev/hda6 sans lancer grub.
j'avais :

images=/boot/vmlinuz
label="Test"
root=/dev/hda6

alors qu'il fallait :

other=/dev/hda6
label="Test"

j'ai très honte de moi, et de vous avoir déranger pour cette co....ie.
moralité : il faut vraiment chercher l'erreur que l'on a faite avant de
chercher le bug dans le programme.
