I cant find anything else on the web regarding this but thought I
would post it.
I have recently been denied access to my registry and not able to
access regedit.
Policies are fine.
Used a 3rd party registry and adjusted the
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System\DisableRegistryTools
key to "0". Everytime I exited the registry it would revert back to
"1", thus disabling regedit.
After checking, there was a file running on startup named smssrp.exe.
Disabled this and was able to successfully launch regedit.exe.
