sur cette machine le problème est le suivant, si je branche un écran sur
la sortie VGA il n'est pas vu par le système.
avec un fichier xorg.conf généré par Xorg -configure, j'ai ceci comme
log de Xorg

je réponds Í  cÍ´té mais d'un autre cÍ´té, justement, je me demande quel est l'intérêt d'utiliser une sortie VGA (analogique) de nos jours (Í  moins que tu ne disposes que d'un moniteur du millénaire dernier)?
c'était la norme quand un ordinateur (numérique) devait afficher sur un moniteur (CRT, tube) analogique. De nos jours les écrans sont numériques. La prise VGA sur un ordinateur n'a pour but que de pouvoir utiliser un moniteur ancien dépourvu d'entrée numérique et la prise VGA sur un miniteur numérique n'a pour but que de pouvoir utiliser un ordinateur ancien dépourvu de sortie numérique (HDMI, DVI... qui n'existaient pas Í  l'époque)
Sur des matériels contemporains l'utilisation d'un cÍ¢ble VGA implique que dans le PC la sortie VGA est convertie de numérique en analogique puis que dans le moniteur l'entrée est reconvertie en sens inverse d'analogique en numérique. Avec les distorsions et d'informations assorties.
En liaison HDMI ou DVI, le signal reste numérique de bout en bout.

Quand je regarde (pour baver un peu devant quelque chose qui fait envie) les cartes m̓¨res supermicro, le port VGA est encore pr̓©sent, et de plus c'est le seul port d'affichage fourni. J'en suis ̓©tonn̓©, mais ̓§a montre que le VGA r̓©siste encore.
Quand une entreprise se procure un tel mat̓©riel, je doute qu'elle ̓©conomise le prix d'un petit moniteur a entr̓©e num̓©rique, et si le fabricant continue ̓  mettre une sortie vid̓©o, c'est surement que la plupart du temps on passe encore par une phase de config sans recourir aux fonctionnalites distantes (acc̓¨s au BIOS, UEFI par KVM, IPMI, etc)

Oui, mais dans ce cas-lÍ , ça me paraÍ®t dèjÍ  plus logique: si je ne me trompe pas(?) c'est une carte-mère de serveur? (donc l'affichage, Í  la base, c'est pas crucial) Et ça n'est plus disponible neuf? carte graphique de 1998 et processeurs de 2010-2012?

pour clÍ´turer cette discussion sur un matériel d'un autre Í¢ge !
Ce qui m'a poussé Í  reposer cette question est :
Comment d'une distribution Í  une autre, sur une fonction aussi évidente
que la gestion de la sortie VGA y a-t-il des différence de gestion ?
Je viens de refaire le test avec un Ubuntu sur une clef USB sans
configuration spécifique et dans ce cas j'ai sans problème le double
écran en miroir ou en étendu.
