Have tried installing Mandrake 10.1 using the first three CDs, but the video
card ATI X800 in not reconized and so upon booting linux goes into a kernal
panic and I unable to solve this as it's to complicated for me
Can anyone tell me if the version 10.1 shoud / can regonise this card
Would using the 4 and 5th CDs from Mandrake help, are there more drivers on
these CDs

Did you try to boot (after pressing F1 on the start screen) using : linux noauto
This prevents automatic hardware configuration in case hardware is not recognized.
